"^'^ Lt.ColonelFrederick Miller served with the 80th Regiment in the Burmese war of 1852-53 (Medal with Clasp for
Pegu). Served in Turkey and the Crimea in 1855-56 with the Turkish Contingent in command of the 1st Regiment
of Infantry (Brevet of Major, Ath Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal). Sei-ved in India during the mutiny
in 1858-59; present in all the actions in which the 80th Regiment was engaged (twice mentioned in despatches.
Medal). Served also with the Soth Regiment in the Expedition against Bhootan in 1865 (Medal).
2^^ Lt.Colonel James Miller served with the nth Hussars in the Crimea from 29th July to 19th August 1855 (Medal
with Clasp for Sebastopol, and Tui-kish Medal).
^^ Lt.Colonel Thomas Miller served in the 40th Regt. at the capture of Manora and surrender of Kurrachee, Lower
Scinde, in Feb. 1839. He served with the 10th Regt. in tlie Punjaub campaign of 1848-49. including the whole of the
siege operations before Mooltan and surrender of the fortress ; wiis Major of Brigade at the repulse of the enemy's
night attack on the British Camp at Muttee Thol on 17th Aug.; commanded the Reserve of the Regt. at the storm¬
ing of the Heights before Mooltan on 27th Dec. 1848 ; was afterwards present at the battle of Goojerat (Medal with
two Clasps).
-■'* Lt.Colonel C. Milligan served with the 39th Regiment at the siege and fall of Sebastopol in 1855, and at the
attacks of the iSth June and 8th Sept. (Medal with Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
23" Lt.CoIouel \V. H. Mott'att served with the [9th Regiment during the latter part of tlie Crimean campaign
from 8th Sept. 1855 (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served against the hill tribes of Sikkim during the
close of i860, and was twice in command of Patrols engaged with the enemJ^ Served in the Hazara campaign in
1868, including the expedition against the tribes on the Black Mountain.
^3" Lt.Colonel Mollan served in the Indian campaign of 1857-59, commanded the 75th Regiment with Outram'*
rorceatAlumbaghfrom Dec. 1857 to Feb. 1858, including repulse of attacks on 12th and 16th Jan. and minor affairs.
Served as Brigade Major with the Rifle Brigade at the siege and oiiptiu-e of Lucknow, and actions of Koorsee,
Baree, Simree, Nawabgunge (horse killed by round-shot), and Snltanpore, operations terminating in the passage
of the Goomtee on 28th Aug., action at Dooadpore and capture of the enemy's guns, surrender of the forts of
Ameethie and Slmnkapore (frequently mentioned in despatches. Medal with Clasp, Brevet of Lt.Colonel, and CB.)
'^'^'^ Lt.ColonelMolloy served in the Peninsula with the Rifle Brigade, and was present at the battles;,; Roleia,
Vimiera, Salamanca, Vittoria, Pyrenees, Nivelle, Nive, and Toulouse (War Medal witli eight Clasps). He served
also the campaign of 1815, and was severely wounded at Waterloo.
"^^ Lt.Colonel the Hon. H. M. Monckton served with tlie 29th Regiment throughout the Punjaub campaign of
1848-49, and was present at the passage of the Cheuali, and battles of Chillianwallah (wounded) and Goojerat, and
pursuit of the Sikhs with the force under Sir Walter Gilbert (Medal with two Clasps). Served with the Army of
the East, attached to the 4th Light Dragoons, and afterwards with tlie rank of Major in command of the Sultan's
" Royal Regiment of Constantinople," witli the Cavalry imder Major General Shirley, and has received the Turkish
War Medal.
'"' Lt.Colonel J. V. H. Montagu served with the loth Regt. in the Sutlej campaign in 1846 and was present in the

"^ Lt.Colonel Montresor served with the Grenadier Guards in the Crimea from 29th Dec. 1854, including tlie siege
and fall of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
'"^ Lt.Colonel W. Mosse served with the 26th Cameronians in Abyssinia in 1868 (Medal).

^^ Lt.Colonel Newton received a commission at the early age of twelve, in consequence of the services of his
father, then commanding a Regiment of Light Dragoons. Served in the West Indies in the campaign of 1810, under
Sir George Beckwith, as a Regimental Officer; was afterwards appointed Assistant Quarter Master General and
Major of Brigade in St. Thomas and Grenada. Joined his Regiment on its being ordered on service to the coast
of America in 1814, where he served with the Division under Sir .iohn Sherbrooke. Joined the Army under the Duke
of Wellington in June 1815, was appointed one of the Staff Commandants in Belgium, and was present at the taking
of Landrccy by the Prussians.
"" Lt.Colonl'l Nicliolson served the campaign of 1814 in Holland, including the bombardment of Antwerp, and
storming of Bergcn-op-Zoom, where he was severely wounded.
2 *s Lt.Colonel J. P. Nolan brought the "A" Battery Steel Mounted Ordnance from England, and was most
energetic in getting it into order previous to the arrival of No. 5 Battery 2i8t Brigade; and served throughout the
AVjyssinian campaign from December 1867 as Adjutant to Colonel Milwaj d, and was present in the action of Arogce
and capture of Magdala (mentioned in dc^pati^hes, and Medal).
-*' Lt.Colonel F. O'Beirne served with the 2nd Dragoon Guards in the Oude campaign of 1858-59, including the
crossing of the Gogra at Fyzabad, and affairs at Bungaon (Medal).
'^" Lt.Colonel W. C. O'Brien served in the 40th Regt. in the action of Maharajpore—wounded (Bronze Star).
-5' Lt.Colonel V. O'Connor served as Acting Adjutant of the Soth Regiment with the Left Attack during the
Bhootan Expedition in 1865 (Medal with Clasp).
2^2 Lt.Colonel O'Reilly served in the Peninsul.a with the 4th Dragoon Guards.
"3 Lt.CJolonel Orme served with the i6th Lancers in the action of Maharajpore on 29th Dec. 1843 (Bronze Star).
Also in the Sutlej campaign in 1846 and was present in the actions of Buddiwal and Aliwal, in which last he received
two severe bayonet wounds and several slight salu-e cuts (Medal). Served with the loth Regt. in the Indian cam¬
paign of 1857-58, including the advance on Lucknow and actions at Chanda, Umeerpore, Sultanpore, and DhowTaha,
Biege and capture of Lucknow, relief of Azimghur, and operations against the rebels in the Jugdespore Jungle ;
commanded the Regiment in action at Chitourah (horse shot) and in the subsequent operations until its return into
camp (mentioned in desyiatches); commanded the two flank Comjianies of the loth for flve months in the Shahabad
Field Force in the final oiierations against the rebels in liahnr in 1858-59 (Brevets of Major and Lt.Colonel, Medal).
'^- Lt.Colonel Edmund Palmer served in the Indian campaign of 1857-59, f "'1 commanded a field battery of Royal
Artillerj' with Whitlock's field division in the action at Bandah, action at Chitrakote with Carpenter's force, and
defeat of a body of the Gwalior Contingent at Koreri. Right hand partially {li.<abled through exposure to the sun
daring the hot weather campaign of 1858 (four times mentioned in despatches, Brevet of Major, Medal with Clasp).
257 Lt.Colonel Pearson served the Eastern campaign of 1854 up to 30th June 1855, as Aide de Camp to Sir George
Brown, including the battles of Alma and Inkerman, siege of Sebastopol, attack of the i8th June, and expetlition to-
Kercch (Medal with three Clasps. Brevet of Major, Sardinian and Turkish Medals, and 5th Class of the Medjidie).
"'' Lt.Colonel E. Y. Peel served with the nth Hussars in the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the affair
of Bulganac, battles of Alma and Tchernaya (where he commanded the Regiment), and siege of Sebastopol
(Medal with two Clasps, Brevet of Lt.CoIouel, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medali.
2°" Lt.Colonel J. Peyton served as an Engineer Officer on the Peshawnr Frontier in 1854-55,and remodelled the Forts
of Michnee, Shubkudder, and Abozai, between the Khyber Pass and Cabool river, in front of an enem.y, his men
having on more than one occasion been shot down at their work, and his predecessor Lieut. Bulnois of the Bengal
Engineers killed in discharge of that duty ; was present at every engagement which took place with tlii« Hill Tribes
during the above period. Received the thanks of Government for special services on the frontier of Thibet. Served
during the Indian mutiny of 1857-58 and narrowly escaped falling into the hands of the Sealkote mutineers at the
engagement on the Ravee under General Nicholson ; was present at the Peshawur outbreak as 2nd in Comjnand of
the i8th Punjaub Irregulars, the Commanding Officer, the Adjutant, and the Doing Duty Officer, the only other
European officers present, being all three severely wounded (Medal). Lt.Colonel Peyton has passed the Interpjeter's
Examination in Hindostanee and taken degrees of high proficiency in the Oordoo and Persian languages at tha
Colleges of Calcutta and Madras, and received the reward—/400.
