Shahj hanpore, siege and capture of Bareilly (Medal with Ciasp).
^^' Colonel R. Stewart served in the Punjaub campaign of 1848-49 (Medal). Commanded a detachment of tha
Sylhet Light In antry and the Roorkee Levy in pursuit of the M muiporee frincos, engaged and defeated them at
Bishenpore on 24th Nov. 1852. Served in Cachar against the mutineers of the 34th Bengal Native Infantry in
1857-58 (Medal).

including the batt es of Alma and Inkerman, and siege of Sebastopol (Medal with three Clasps, 5th Class of the

and was present in the attack on Shah Mooseh Khel (Medal with Clasp;.
^' Culoncl W. Wauuington served with Persian i'lxpeditionar.v Force in 1856-57, and was present at the landing
at Hallilali Bay, storming and cajiture of Reshiro, surrenderuf Bushire, and durmg the forceu march en Borazjoon,
the occupation of the enemy's entrenched camp, and the night attack and baitle of Khooshab (JIed;il -with i,lasp).
^^^ Colonel E. C. Warner served the Gwalior camptiign of 1843-44, including the battle of Puimiar (Bronze Star).

under Lord Keane, and was present at the storm and capture of Ghuznee (Medal), and of Khelat, at which last ho

^"^ Colonel A T. Welsh served with the 80th Rcginient in the Burmese war of 1852-53, including the storming of
Martaban, bombardment of Rangoon and subsequent operations on ihe i^th 13th and 14th April, and capture 01 tho
great Dagon Pa^ioda, and storming of Rangoon; bombardment and capture of Prome (mentioned in General
Goodwill's despatches, and specially thanked by the Governor General oi India in Council), night attacks 01 the
enemy on the Camp on the heights of Prome, and expedition into Poungdey district in February and March 1853
(Medal with Clasp for Pegu, and Brevet of Major).

Sebasto.'Ol (Medal witn Clasp, and Turkish Medal). Served m the Indian campaign of 1857-58, including tho
battle of Cawnpoie on 6th Decemtier, action of Futtehghur, and affair of Kaiikur (Medal).

also in the Indian mutiny campaigns of 1S57-5S, including the actions near Agra and AUyghur, operations near
Shereghur Ghauts, and action of Dowra (Medal).
^^^ Colonel W. H. White served with the agth and 2'th Madras Native Infantry during the Jiurmese war of
i85'-53, and was present at the action of Martaban, defeat and pursuit of the enemy on 26th May 1852, attack and
destruction of tue Barman camp and repulse of tho enemy's aitacks on the nights of the 17111 and ibth Juiy, and
from gih July to isth Aug. i8vj (Medal with Clas-p lor Pegu).

3"3 Colonel Wigston served with the i8th Royal Irish on tho China expedition (Medal), at Canton, Amo.y, Chusan,
Chinhae, Nmgpo, Segoan, Chapoo, and Chin Kiang Foo. Served also m Burmah, from July 1852 to the end of the
war in 1853 ; was present at the capture of Prome ; and commanded tlie infantry, and subse(|uentl.y, on the I'orco
being increased, the Rght Wing of the troops emplo.yed under Sir John Cheape in the Donaliew district against
Meah Toon, ana was severely wounded at the assault and capttu-e of that chief s last position on tho 19th March i!)53
(Medal for Pegu). Received the Brevet of Major for the China service, and that of Lt.Colonel for the Bui-mese service.

of Mooltan, surrender of the Fort and Gan-ison of Chenioto, and battle of Goojerat (Medal with two Clasps). AVaa
present at Agra during tho mutiny, and was severely wounded (right leg amputated) in tlio action fought there on
the 5th July 1857 (Mediil).

sent at the siege and surrender of Mooltan (Modal with Ciasp).

paign of 1854 with the R.M. Brigade, including the battle of Biilaklava, and was with the Light Division of the Army
at the battle of Inkerman. and in the Trenches during the whole winter; present with the combined Force beiore
Sebastojiol during the siege, and at its fall in 1855 ; served as Adjut ,nt to the R.M. Battalion tm the Kertch ex, edi¬
tion and occupation of Yeui Kale, was also at the surrender of Kinbourn Medal with three Clasps, Sardinian Medal,
5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal). Commanded the Royal Marines in the engagement with tho Ibits at
Kii-gosima in Japan on ihe 15th August 1864 (Brevet of Major). Was present at the bombardment of tho batteries at
the Straits uf Simonosaki, the entrance of the inland sea of japan, and as Miijor of Brigade at the capture and de¬
struction 01 the batt,eries, magazines, and barracks, and during the shore operations, from tho 5th to the 8th Sept.
1864 (mentioned in despatches).
