War Services of the Officers of the Militia Infantry. 884
Royal Scots. — '-Lord Lothian- served on the Stafl of Sir J. Outram in the Persian war; was present at the
taking of Mohumrah, and accompanied the troops in their advance upon Ahwaz (Medal with Clasp).
2 Colonel Gordon served throughout the Eastern campaign of 1854-55, including the battles of Alma,
Balaklava, and Inkerman, siege and fall of Sebastopol, and sortie of 26th Oct. ; was Aide de Camp to General Simp-
son from 22nd Aug. to 12th Nov. 1855 (Medal with four Clasps, 5th Class of the Medjidie, and Turkish Medal).
3 Lt. Colonel Scobie served throughout the second phase of the Ashanti war in 1S74 with the 42nd Highlanders,
and was nresent at the battles of Amoaful and Ordahsu and at the capture of Coomassie (Medal with Clasp).
4 Lt.Colonel Grant served hi the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal
with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
5 Major Dundas served with the 1st Battalion Scots Guards in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present
at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
6 Lord Tewkesbury served with the 2nd Battalion 60th Rifles in the Afghan war from December 1879 to October
iSSo, and was present in the engagements at Ahmed Kheyl and T7rzo"> near Ghuznee ; accompanied Sir Frederick
Roberts in the march to Candahar, and was present at the battle of Candahar (Medal with two Clasps, and Bronze
Decoration). Served with the 3rd Battalion in the Boer war in 18S1.
7 Captain Horniblow served with the Bechuanaland Expedition under Sir Charles "Warren in 1884-85 with the
1st Battalion of the Royal Scots.
West Surrey Regiment. — ' Captain D.yke served in the Burmese Expedition in 1885-87 with the 2nd Battalion
Queen's Royal West Surrey Regiment under Brigadier General Nockhart (Medal with Clasp).
The Bufts. — ' Captain Colley served with the Buffs throughout the operations in the Malay Peninsula in 1875-76
including the actions of the 4th 14th and 20th January (Medal with Clasp).
Lancaster Regiment. — ' Major North served in the Soudan campaign in 1885 with the Commissariat and
Transport Staff (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star). [See also Civil Decorations for Gallantry, " Hart's

Warwickshire Regiment.— 2 Major Gretton.— See Civil Decorations for Gallantry, "Hart's Annual Army
List," p. 786.
Northumberland Fusiliers.— 1 Lieut. Evans served with the Hazara Expedition in 1888 (Medal with Clasp).
Royal Fusiliers. — l Colonel Dundas served with the 62nd Regiment in the Crimea from the t6th August
1855, including the siege and fall of Sebastopol, and attack of the Redan on the 8th September (Medal with Clasp,
and Turkish Medal).
4 Colonel La Terriere served with the 19th Hussars in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present at the battle
of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star). Served during the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 with the
Egyptian Armv on the Bedouin Frontier and on the Lines of Communication; carried the despatches from the
front to Korti on several occasions, and was Statf Officer at Korti until its evacuation (Clasp).
5 Lt.Colonel Griesbach served in;the Afghan war in 1880 as Orderly Officer to Brigadier General Nuttall, Com-
manding Cavalry Brigade, iu the engagements on the Helmund and at Maiwand; took part in the defence of
Candahar and was present at the battle of Canhahar (Medal with Clasp).
Liverpool Regiment. — ' Colonel Woodward served in the Soudan campaign in 1885 with the Commissariat and
Transport Staff (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
Norfolk Regiment.— 1 Captain Halpin served with the Burmese Expedition in 1885-S8 (Medal with two Clasps).
4 Captain Grehan served with the Burmese Expedition in 1888-89 with the 2nd Battalion Norfolk Regiment
(Medal with Clasp).
Lincolnshire Regiment.— 1 Lord William Cecil served in the Soudan campaign in 1885 (Medal with Clasp, and
Khedive's Star).
2 Sir James de Hoghton served in the Ashanti war from the 17th December 1873, including the battle of
Amoaful, attack and capture of Becquah, and advanced guard engagement at Jarbinbah (Medal with Clasp).

Devonshire Regiment.- 1 Captain Dumbreck served in the Zulu war in 1879 on Commissariat duty (Meda
with Clasp).
5 Captain Carr served in the Afghan war in 1879-80 with the 2nd Battalion nth Regiment in Southern Afghan-
istan (Medal).
Suftolk Regiment. — ] Captain James served in the New Zealand war in 1864-66 (Medal).
Somersetshire Light Infantry. — [ Major Gore Langton served with the Koorum Field Force in the Afghan war
in 187S-79, and was present with the expedition into the Khost Valley and in the engagement at Mattoon;
accompanied Sir Frederick Roberts in the march to Candahar, and was present at the reconnaisance of 31st
August and at the battle of Candahar (Medal with Clasp and Bronze Decoration).
1 Lt.Colonel Shephard served in ihe Zulu war in 1879 (Medal). Served with the Burmese Expedition in 1886-87
as Staff Officer to Brigadier General Anderson (mentioned in despatches, DSO. and Medal with Clasp).
2 Major West served throughout the Zulu war of 1879, and was present in the engagements at Zungin Nek,
Kambula Hill, and Ulundi (Medal with Clasp).
3 Captain Stewart served in the Burmese Expedition in 1886-87 with the 2nd Battalion Somersetshire Light
Infantry (Medal with Clasp).
4 Major Hicks served wirh the Ashanti Expedition under Sir Francis Scott in 1895-96 (Star).
West Yorkshire Regiment.— 1 Colonel Prideaux-Brune embarked for the Gold Coast with the 2nd Battalion
Rifle Brigade, and served throughout the second phase of the Ashanti war in 1874, including the battle of Amoa-
ful, advanced guard skirmishes and ambuscade affairs betweeu Adwabin and the river Ordah, battle of Ordahsu
and capture of Coomassie (Medal with Clasp).
East Yorkshire Regiment.— 1 Colonel Grimston served with the 2nd Queen's Royals in the Kaffir war of
1851-52 (Medal) ; also with the expedition North of the Orange River in 1852-53.
2 Colonel Bui-stall served with the 1st Battalion of the 60th Rifles on the Red River Expedition of 1870.
4 Lieut. Barry served iu the Afghan war of 1878-80, and was present in the engagement at Ahmed Kheyl (Medal
with Clasp).
Bedfordshire Regiment.— 1 Captain Haggard served in the expedition to the Soudan in 1885 with the 1st Bat-
talion Shropshire Light Infantry (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star), and in the subsequent occupation of
Suakin by British troops in 18S5-86.
Irish Regiment.— 1 Captain Hon. E. B. L. H. Stopford served with the 1st Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers in the
Egyptian war of 1882, and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
3 Major Cane served in the Egyptian war of i&32, and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with
Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
5 Captain Crabbe served as a volunteer with the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons in the Boer war of 18S1. Served as a
volunteer in the 19th Hussars in the Egyptian war of 1882, and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal
with Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
8 Lieut. Dundas served in the Egyptian war of 1S82, and was present at the battle of Tel-el-Kebir (Medal with
Clasp, and Khedive's Star).
Yorkshire Regiment. — [ Colonel Gunter served with the 4th Dragoon Guards in the Crimea in October 1854
including the siege of Sebastopol (Medal with Clasp, and Turkish Medal).
2 Colonel Howard served in the Afghan war in 1878-79 with the Peshawur Valley Field Force and was
present at the attack and capture of AH Musjid (Medal with Clasp). Served with the Burmese Expedition in
1888-80 /ith the 4th Battalion Rifle Brigade (Medal with Clasp).
3 Captain de leissier served in the expedition to the Soudan in 1885 with the 1st Battalion Shropshire Light
Infantry (Medal \-.ith Clasp, and Khedive's Star), and in the subsequent occupation of Suakin by British troopa
in 1885-86.
Lancashire Fusiliers.— 1 Major Hamilton served in the Nile Expedition in 1884-85 with the 1st Battalion of the
South Staffordshire Regiment, and was present at the action of Kirbekan (Medal with two Clasps, and Khedive's
Star).
Scots Fusiliers.— 1 Captain Toogood served in the Nile Expedition in 1S84-85 with the 1st Battalion of the West
