[For the encouragement of tillage and husbandry.]

To encourage tillage and husbandry no corn or hay shall
be seized for rent, the sowers paying only the accustomed
sheaf. No plow-horses or oxen to be seized for rent if there
is any other distraint. Meadow grounds to be fenced in.
Soldiers not to destroy meadow ground. Provisions for
complaints and payment of damages. Crown lands to be let
to improvers of tillage. Crown rents may be paid in grain
or hay.

The butchers and victuallers have lately raised the price
of butchers' meat excessively. Any person, whether free of
the corporation of butchers or cooks or not, may kill, dress,
and sell meat anywhere in Dublin. Officers to assist and
protect them.

1040, q.v., disabled the copper and brass money then issued
from being legal tender for mortgages, bills, bonds, obliga¬
tions, record debts, and trust money. This restriction is now
removed. The money will be redeemed in full when it is
cried down.

An invasion is expected with an army of Danes and other
foreigners. The army must be regularly paid. The late
subsidy is insufficient owing to waste lands and the rebellion,
and Parliament cannot meet. A contribution of £20,000 a
month for three months ending 31 January last is to be
made by advice of the Privy Council from personal estate
and the profits of trade. The allotment to be made by com¬
missioners. Claims for illegal quartering are to be sent in.
Claims for damage to be sent to the Secretary for War.

Many horses fit for military service ai'e not sent to fairs
or markets for fear of being pressed. The press will be sus¬
pended till 10 April next to afford an opportunity for selling
them. After that date all horses over 14^ hands high will
be impressed,
