Notwithstanding proclamation 8 Nov. 1673, No. 845, q.v.,
many papists carry arms. No papist may keep or carry any
halbert, pike, musket, caliver, fowling-piece, carbine, pistol,
or other gun. All arms to be given up within twenty days
to the ordnance stores, or the persons appointed—a list of
whom follows. Search to be made for arms. All papists
and all shopkeepers who have more than one pound of gun¬
powder to send an exact account of the quantity to the Clerk
of the Council.

of ships ready to sail before 20 November to put up notices
in the most public places of the date of sailing and the
places to which they are going. They are to receive aboard
all popish archbishops, bishops, dignitaries, abbots, Jesuits,
and regular priests, and carry them on the usual terms, on
pain of detention in the customs.

Ormonde.
No person of the popish religion may enter Dublin Castle
or any fort in the kingdom without an order from the Lord
Lieutenant. The markets at Drogheda, Wexford, Corke,
Lymerick, Waterford, Youghal, and Galway are to be held
outside the towns, and no papist is to be allowed to reside in
these or any other garrison towns unless they have dwelt
there for twelve months. No person of that religion is to
be allowed to come to market armed. They are not to meet
in any great numbers either by day or night. Sheriffs are
to prevent such meetings and arrest the principal offenders,
sending an account to Dublin.
