COUNCIL. A Proclamation.
[For the reeling of Yarn.]
Dublin: 31 May 1636.

All linen yarn spun and wound up in this kingdom is to
be reeled only upon one end and no more, the reels to
consist of an ell in compass, the yarn to be reeled up in layes
or ronds, each lay or rond to be neither more nor less than
one hundred threads, and so to be knit up on every rond or
lay with a twine or packthread. Every skein of yarn to
consist of neither more nor less than ten of these layes or
ronds. Penalty, confiscation.

persons have contracted for yarn not made according to
proclamation, at cheap and low rates. The proclamation is
to be strictly observed. Any offender after April next will
be proceeded against at the Council Board or Court of Castle
Chamber. Rewards to those informing against contempt.

The Justices of Peace at Quarter Sessions are to rate
every parish for the relief of poor prisoners, to be paid
quarterly to collectors, who shall distribute weekly relief
in gaols. This to be strictly observed, and report to be
made at Assizes, on pain of contempt.

Lands throughout this Kingdome.

Through want of enclosures, many encroachments on land
are made. All persons desirous of having their bounds marked
are to bring in a bill of complaint to Chancery, Exchequer,
Presidential Courts, or Justices of Oyer and Terminer, when
a Commission or order of perambulation will be granted to
mark out the bounds. A ditch 4 foot deep and 5 foot broad,
set with two rows of quickset, is to be made at once and
kept in repair. Offenders punished by Council. No high¬
ways to be stopped or barred up, but convenient passage
to be left for carts and carriages.

the office of Alnager for 55 years, at a yearly rent of £10,

(the new draperie). These are to be executed. The old
and the new draj^eries are to be made to measure as by
English law (4 Jas. I, c. 2). Offices for sealing and measur¬
ing to be opened.

Irish money, or harpes, is a fourth part less than English
money. Advantage has been taken of this by some sheriifs
to levy sterling money and to account only for Irish. On
and after 20 March last, all accounts of the King's money
