tainment of Souldiours.

Potents have been issued for the moving of companies
from place to place. They are to pay ready money as other
travellers do, and are not to demand any billetting or lodging,
fire or light in this city, but to pay ready money during
their stay, on pain of ' Martialls-Court'.

AND COUNCELL. A Proclamation for the
currant passing of good Farthing tokens.
Dublin : 16 September 1634.

Farthing tokens are not to be forced upon poor labourers
or working men in payments. No one to pay more than
2d. in farthings at once. Edward Lake, agent to the
patentees, will exchange for any sum in farthings an equiva¬
lent in silver. Forging farthings to be punished by loss of
ears. Offenders to be arrested, and counterfeits destroyed.
Suspected persons to be committed in default of security to
appear before the Council in Castle Chamber.

powder and Ammunition.
Dublin : 10 April 1635.

Eepeats provisions of previous proclamations, Nos. 185,
252, q.v. All persons to bring in any powder, imported
contrary to proclamation, to the Ordnance Stores before
1 July. Offenders to be seized by any person of honest
behaviour and lodged in the shire gaol till they are brought
before the Court of Castle Chamber. All mayors, &c., to be
diligent.

30 JUNE.-BY THE LORD DEPUTY AND
COUNCELL. A Proclamation concerning Linnen
Cloath.
Dublin: 30 June 1635.

The linen now made in Ireland is too narrow. After
Michaelmas next all linen shall be woven three-quarters
of a yard wide at least, unless it is woven in chequers for
towels or napkins. Any owner of narrow linen may be
arrested by any person and carried before a J.P. to discover
the maker, who shall be committed to the shire gaol till he
gives security to appear before the Court of Castle Chamber
(Leinster), the Lord President (Munster or Connaught), or
the Commissioners (Ulster). Any person may apprehend
a weaver of narrow linen after 29 Sept. or a seller after
1 Feb. Gray merchants are forbidden to use Ban-laws,
Slatt, and other uncertain measures, all are to buy and sell
by the ell and yard.

AND COUNCELL. A Proclamation that
Noblemen, Undertakers, and all other persons of
Quality, place, or office within this kingdom shall
be resident here.
Dublin : 17 September [1635].

Wentworth.
Cites Order of 1622, that nobility and gentry should
be resident here and not depart without licence, and royal
letter of 20 Jan. last calling attention to the disregard of
this order. No person holding estates or office in this
kingdom, except those employed on His Majesty's service
in England, may leave Ireland without the licence of the
Lord Deputy, on pain of contempt.
