4 The guilty wretch that trusts thy blood.
Finds peace and pardon at the cross ;
The sinful soul, averse to God,
Believes and loves his Maker’s laws.
5 Learning and wit may cease their strife.
When miracles with glory shine ;
The voice that calls the dead to life

1 TJFOW precious is the book divine,
By inspiration giv’n!
Bright as a lamp its doctrines shine
To guide our souls to heav’n.
2 It sweetly cheers our drooping hearts
In this dark vale of tears :
Life, light, and joy, it still imparts.
And quells our rising fears.
S This lamp through all the tedious night
Of life shall guide our way.
Till we behold the clearer light
Of an eternal day.

1 'LEATHER of mercies, in thy word
What endless glory shines I
For ever be thy name ador’d
For these reviving lines.
2 Here may the wretched sons of want
Exhaustless riches find;
Riches above what earth can grant,
And lasting as the minth
