39. ADVERBS.
Simple or “one word” Adverbs are very few in Gaelic
but Compound Adverbs (adverbial phrases) are very
numerous.
Many adverbs are formed from adjectives by prefixing
the particle gu (gu h- before vowels).
E.G. Gu math, well; gu dileas, faithfully.
Gu h-olc, badly ; gu mor, greatly.
The prefixed particles—gle, fior, ro—denote a higher
degree of quality ; they also aspirate their adjectives.
E.G. G14 mhath, very well; ro dhileas, exceedingly faithful.
