Central Conimittee approved of the Enter¬
tainments Committee minute.
Mrs. Bannerman, convener, gave a
resume of the work accomplished since last
meeting. There had now been completed,
since the Committee was formed, 3278
garments—1410 by members of Comunn na
h-Oigridh and 1868 by members of the work
party and members of branches of An
Comunn. The material for these garments
was supplied, almost exclusively, by the
Central Committee.
The Secretary reported on the response to
the various appeals as follows:—Comforts
Fund, £630 18s 8d; Ambulance Fund,
£457 18s 6d; Comunn na h-Oigridh
Ambulance Fund, £42 Is 6d, making a
total of £1125 18s 8d. This was considered
extremely satisfactory. As will be seen from
the donation lists on another page, the
branches have responded splendidly—30 of
them having contributed £159. The Com¬
mittee has despatched to individuals and
units 2682 garments. The Committee
agreed to send parcels of comforts to High¬
landers on Patrol Service through the
good offices of one of our chaplains, whose
name was submitted by Miss Elma Story.
The next meetings of the Committees will
be held in the office of An Comunn on
Tuesday evening, 6th August—the Enter¬
tainments Committee at 7.15 p.m. and the
Central Committee at .8 p.m.
Work Party Outing.
Members of the Work Party and friends
spent an enjoyable afternoon at the Old
Manse, Balmaha, the home of Mrs. J. M.
Bannerman, convener, on Saturday, 29th
June.
A Bring and Buy Sale had been arranged,
and this was opened by Her Grace the
Duchess of Montrose. To further augment
the funds a number of side-shows were held,
and these proved a decided attraction.
Luncheon was partaken of on arrival, and
teas were served throughout the afternoon.
The proceedings were favoured with
brilliant sunshine, but towards the end of
the day a shower of rain forced everyone
indoors, and this gave the host the oppor¬
tunity qf organising a ceilidh, which was
quite reminiscent of happy evenings at
National Mods. Mention must be made of
the efforts of Master John Bannerman and
his sister, Seonaid, who organised a Comunn
na h-Oigridh stall at the sale. These efforts
realised the sum of £2 10s, which has been
added to the Comunn na h-Oigridh
Ambulance Fund. As a result-of the outing
Mrs. Bannerman was able to hand over the
gratifying sum of £39 10s to the Ambulance
Fund.
At a meeting of the Work Party the
following Tuesday, Mrs. Grant conveyed the
sincere and cordial thanks of the members
to Mrs. Bannerman for organising such a
pleasant outing, and Miss Elma Story paid
a similar compliment to the Convener at
the subsequent meeting of the Central
Committee.
