(1) George, in Kirkton of Menmuir, died young, unmarried.
(2) Jean, married John Skair, Bogton of Balhall.
(3) Alexander, in Balzeordie, died unmarried 1794.
(4) William, in Mill of Brathinch, died about 1795. He
had three daughters, one of whom married David Valentine,
Brechin, and had a large family.
(5) Margaret, first wife of David Leighton, Burnhead.
(6) Isobel, married Alexander Don, and was the mother of
George Don, the eminent Forfar Botanist ; besides another son
and five daughters.
(Note by the Editor. — This Alexander, son of James Don
(younger) in Blackhall, was born in 1717, and, living to be
almost a centenarian, died 1813. He married Isobel Fair-
weather in 1760, and his second child was the celebrated
George, born 1764, died 1814. The botanist was not born in
Forfar, as generally stated, but at Ireland, in Menmuir, which
