AN Discharge by George Abbot of Arbroath of the Sum of
an Hunder Mercks Scots received by the s^d Abbot Treasurer
from Sanders Forbes Controller on the Behalf of Christian of
Sutherland the Relict of umquhil William Oliphant of Berry-
dail as the Composition of the Charter made to them of the
Lands of Strabrok. This Acquit. given at Ed^r the 20^th
Nov^r. . . . . . . . . . 1509.

FROM the Registers of Charters under the Great Seal a
Charter granted by King James the 4^th to William Oliphant
of Berrydail and Christian Sutherland his Spouse of all and
hail the Lands of Strabrok in the Sherrifdom of Linlithgow,
which formerly belonged to George Oliphant Son and Heir to
the said William and Christian, the s^d Lands being then in
the King's Hands by Recognition 27^th of Dec^r . . 1507.

AN other Charter granted by King James the 4^th narrating
that, to remove all Contest and Animosity betwixt William
Sutherland of Quarrelwood on the One Part and Christian
Sutherland Daughter to Alexander Sutherland of Duffhous
and Spouse to William Oliphant on the other Part, whereby
she resigns in the King's Hands the Lands of Duffhous in
Murray, Cathrie in Inverness and Strabrok in Linlithgow
Shires. Which Lands did formerly belong to the said Alex^r
Sutherland of Duffhous Geo. Oliphant Son and Heir apparent
to the said Christian, consenting thereto, viz. to the giving of
the Lands of Duffhous to William Sutherland of Quarrelwood.
