From M. d’Urfe to the Queen Dowager
1553. Vol. iv. 9.
Although he wrote from Amhoise about the Queen of Scots, he writes
again by the Archbishop of Glasgow, who will be able to assure the
Queen of her daughter’s good health and the welcome given her at
Court, where she behaves herself so wisely that every one is pleased.
He reminds her of the request made from Amboise that an Italian
gentleman should be made t'cuyer d’ecurie to the Queen. The Cardinal,
who agrees, waits only for the Queen’s approval to make the appoint¬
ment. Written from Saint Germain-en-Laye on the 22nd April 1553.
A LA BOYNE DOUAIRIERE d’eSCOSSE.
Madame, encores que d’Amboise je vous aye faict en¬
tendre des nouvelles de la Royne vostre fille, si n’ay je
voullu faillir de reiterer par Monsieur 1’evesque de glescot,2
present porteur. Lequel vous pourra aussi assurer, Ma¬
dame, comme je faiz par la presente de la tres bonne sante
et disposition de madicte dame qui est autant bien venue
et veue en ceste court 3 que la scauriez desirer et se y
comporte autant honnestement et sagement que c’est au
contentement d’un chacun. Au surplus, Madame, par la
lestre que je vous escripviez d’Amboise je vous faisois tres
