subsequently on 5 Non. Jul., anno 21 [3 July, 1415], William,1
canon of Dunkeld, had been appointed in this way without a personal
petition. William had since died and the pope had provided Alan
Stewart, clerk, St Andrews diocese, in his 12th year of age, on Non.
Jan., anno 22 [5 Jan., 1416], to the said canonry and prebend of
Dunkeld as a reserved benefice vacant by William’s death; but
Richard Knight, canon of Dunkeld, b.dec., claimed that William
had died within three months of his provision without having con¬
sented to this appointment. The pope, however, states his willing¬
ness to assume William’s consent as far as it concerns the reservation
of the benefice and Alan’s provision is therefore valid.

To the abbot of Deer. Mandate to confirm John de Inchemartyne
in possession of the hospital of St Peter of Aberdeen, value not
exceeding 16 merks sterling to a non-resident, vacant by the removal
of the late John de Kynnynmont from the hospital on account
of his demerits by Gilbert, bishop of Aberdeen; as he had doubted
the validity of his provision by ordinary authority to the hospital
by the said bishop, John had therefore sought confirmation which
is granted by the above, notwithstanding that he is known to hold
a canonry and prebend of Aberdeen.
