LETTERS OF POPE BENEDICT XIII
£6o sterling to a non-resident, vacant by the death outside the curia
of Gilbert Macdouny, late archdeacon, notwithstanding his defect
of birth as the son of a monk of the Cluniac order and an unmarried
woman from which he had been dispensed to be promoted to all
holy orders and first to hold a benefice even if with cure, and then
to hold one other benefice even if a canonry and prebend in a
cathedral or collegiate church, and subsequently to hold two other
benefices even if major or principal dignities, offices or parsonages
in cathedral or collegiate churches; and notwithstanding that he
claims rights in the parish church of Halys and in the perpetual
vicarage of Culasse, St Andrews diocese. If John should obtain the
parish church or the perpetual vicarage he is dispensed to hold it
along with the archdeaconry; but within two years of his peaceful
assecution to the archdeaconry and to either the parish church or
the perpetual vicarage he is to demit one or the other.1

To the bishop of St Andrews. Mandate to dispense the nobleman
Gilbert de Laundre, doncel, to marry the noblewoman Anabile de
Manteland, St Andrews diocese, notwithstanding their being spiritu¬
ally related in that the mother of Gilbert is Anabile’s godmother.

To the abbot of Cambuskenneth, the precentor of Dunkeld and the
official of Dunblane. Mandate to collate William de Athray, priest,
Dunblane diocese, to a canonry, prebend and the treasurership of
Dunblane, a non-elective, non-major dignity, value not exceeding
£10 sterling to a non-resident, vacant by the provision of Laurence
de Prendergest, former treasurer, to the parish church of Killeryne,
