5 July, 1415 Reg Aven 345, 603V-605
To John de Rokel, rector of the parish church of Kilbride, Glasgow
diocese. Provision of John, constituted priest, to a canonry and
prebend of Ross, value not exceeding 10 merks to a non-resident,
to be vacant on the peaceful assecution of John de Spineto, b.dec.,
scribe of the papal penitentiary to a canonry, prebend and the pre¬
centorship of Moray. A dispute had arisen over the said canonry,
prebend and precentorship, vacant by the death outside the curia
of John de Haliburton, late precentor, between the said John and
Richard Crech, d.u.j., and the case was committed to master Toribio
de Sanctofacundo, archdeacon of Alcaraz in the church of Toledo,
papal chaplain and auditor of appeals, and he initiated proceedings;
but before a decision had been reached, Richard was provided to
the parish church of Kyrkel, Aberdeen diocese, being held to demit
his rights to the said canonry, prebend and precentorship, which
rights were then surrogated to John by mandatory letters to Toribio,
and subsequently John was provided to the canonry, prebend and
precentorship, being held on his peaceful assecution to demit a
canonry and prebend of Ross and the parish church of Elon, Ross
diocese, which he then held; and so John de Rokel is to be provided
to the said canonry and prebend of Ross thus vacant, notwithstand¬
ing that he is known to hold the parish church of Kylbride.1
