LETTERS OF POPE BENEDICT XIII
of James de Lyndesay through his procurator Peter Roger, abreviator
of papal letters, into the hands of Guigo Flandini, archdeacon of
Majorca, papal notary and regent of chancery; notwithstanding
Alexander’s defect of birth as the son of an unmarried man and an
unmarried woman from which he was dispensed to be promoted
to all holy orders and first to hold a benefice even if with cure, and
then to hold along with this benefice another benefice even if with
cure, provided it was not a major or principal dignity in a cathedral
or collegiate church.

Concurrent mandate to the bishops of Orense and St Andrews, and
the abbot of Balmerino.

To the abbot of Cambuskenneth, the secular provost of the collegiate
church of the Blessed Mary, St Andrews diocese, and the official
of St Andrews. Indult to grant to Peter de Benyn, canon of
Holyrood, os A, an annual pension of 40 gold crowns from the
revenues of the monastery for five years, to enable him to study
canon law or sacred theology at a university, during which time
he is not to be bound to residence.

To the abbot of Kilwinning. Mandate to collate Richard de Knok,
priest, Glasgow diocese, to the parish church of Monyabrok, said
diocese, value not exceeding .£10 sterling to a non-resident, a
church in lay patronage, vacant by the death outside the curia of
John de Kars, late rector, the provision to which has devolved to
the curia, because of the negligence of the lay patron and the
ordinary.1
