David, abbot of Melrose, said order, are proved. David charged
John with wasting the goods of the abbey and refusing his rights of
visitation as pater abbas of Newbotil to correct abuses according to
the constitutions of the order, and that after David had sentenced
John to be deprived of his office John had intruded himself on the
abbey with powerful friends, again dissipating the abbey’s goods
to the grave scandal of many. John is to be called to answer the
charges even if pleading exemption on the grounds of being a papal
chaplain and the case concluded as above.

To the bishop of Orense, the dean and official of Brechin. Mandate
to collate David de Setonne, clerk, St Andrews diocese, lic.art.,
to the parish church of Kylbethok, Aberdeen diocese, the cure of
which is wont to be served by a perpetual vicar and which is worth
-£12 Scots to a non-resident, vacant by the death outside the curia
of Andrew de Arkyl, late rector [sic]. On the death of Andrew,
the late Sir Thomas de Erskyne, St Andrews diocese, claiming to
have the right of presentation from the late Hillebrand, who had
called himself preceptor of the hospital of St John of Jerusalem,
called priory, of Torfychine, St Andrews diocese, to the preceptor-
ship of which collation and provision had long pertained, had
conferred and provided David to the said church which David
had held for sixteen years; but since these rights are declared invalid,
and the church is known to be vacant, collation is granted as above.
