Furthermore faculty is granted to absolve those who might incur
excommunication or other penalties through failure or delay in pay¬
ing the above fruits, and also of choosing a suitable priest even if a
religious to aid him in effecting this.

To the bishops of St Andrews, Glasgow and Dunblane. Mandate.
The provision to all cathedral churches, and monasteries, to major
dignities in the cathedral churches and to principal dignities in
collegiate churches and conventual priories had been reserved to
papal disposition, so the mandatories are to enquire about the condi¬
tion and state of these benefices and to examine the suitability of any
people elected to fill any vacancy, which information is to be sent
to the pope under their seals as quickly as possible; and if any of the
mandatories should die the two survivors are given the power to
choose another bishop to replace him, which concession is to last
two years.

To the archdeacon of the church of Candida Casa. Mandate to con¬
firm, after proper examination, the abbot and convent of Tunglant,
o.prem., Candida Casa diocese, in possession of the parish churches
of Sannat and Liswat, said diocese, which they have held for more
than 40 years since Michael, bishop of Candida Casa, and his
successors gave them to the abbey, to enable it to afford its usual
hospitality and support other burdens, which could not be done
from the ordinary resources of the monastery.1
