Hunctar, b.dec., rector of the parish church of Halays, St Andrews
diocese, value not exceeding 40 merks sterling to a non-resident, to
a canonry of Aberdeen and the prebend of Abirdour, vacant by the
death outside the curia of John de Caron, and vacant for so long
that the provision has lawfully devolved to the pope, although it
has been unlawfully detained for about six months by Alexander de
Borthwik, calling himself clerk, St Andrews diocese. Richard con¬
stituted a priest, of knightly birth, and who has lectured on canon
law for about four years at Paris, is to have possession of the canonry
and prebend notwithstanding that he is known to hold the church
of Halays and has recently been provided to the parish church of
Tanadas, St Andrews diocese, and has had papal letters reserving
him a benefice in the gift of the bishop, dean and chapter of Dunkeld.

To the bishop of Glasgow. Mandate to summon John, abbot of
Arbroath, and hear certain charges against him brought by Walter,
prior claustral, and some monks of the monastery, to the effect
that the said John, while being monk claustral of the monastery,
had lived with a married woman in adultery and apostasy and had
worn secular dress; but being found out he did public penance before
the gates of the monastery and later, before Walter or the above
monks had entered the abbey or because this lapse had been for-
