To the bishop of St Andrews. Mandate to release Robert de
Prestonne, vicar of the parish church of Cambe, St Andrews diocese,
from a certain oath. A dispute had arisen between the said Robert
and a certain John Days, priest, said diocese, over the above church,
vacant by the death of John de Carale, former vicar. Robert, with
letters appointing him by apostolic authority, claimed it within the
legitimate time but John Days asserted the church was rightfully his.
William, abbot of Lindores, o s b, James, prior of the church of St
Andrews, os A, Thomas de Kilquonquhar, William de Name and
Patrick de Fliske, priests, said diocese, had been appointed as arbi¬
trators to settle the case and Robert and John were bound by oath to
observe the decision of the said arbitrators. An unjust decision having
been made Robert had petitioned to be released from the oath.

To Simon de Mandeville, rector of the parish church of Magna
Caveris, Glasgow diocese, m.a., lic.leg., student in canon law at
Avignon. Provision of Simon, of noble birth, and nephew of
Mathew, bishop of Glasgow, to the parish church of Magna Caveris,
Glasgow diocese, value not exceeding 100 merks old sterling, vacant
by the promotion of its rector Henry to the bishopric of St Andrews
and thereafter unlawfully detained by David, abbot of Melrose,
o.cist.; notwithstanding that he holds the archdeaconry of Glas¬
gow and a benefice with cure which, however, have to be exchanged
for compatibles within three years, and that he also holds a canonry
of Dunkeld with the reservation of a prebend whether a dignity,
perpetual parsonage or an office without cure.
