To John Murray, canon of St Peter of the Maidens, Poitou diocese.
Provision of John, constituted priest, to a canonry of St Peter of
the Maidens, Poitou diocese, with reservation of a prebend in the
gift of the bishop and chapter of Poitou, vacant after 7 Id. Oct. next
[9 Oct., 1404], notwithstanding that he is known to hold chap¬
laincies in the parish churches of St Mathew of Kinomar, Poitou
diocese, and St Desiderius, Poitou diocese, combined value not
exceeding ^20 of Tours to a non-resident.

anno 11 [7 Feb., 1405].
Concurrent mandate to the abbots of St Cyprian outside the walls of
Poitou and of St Maxentius, Poitou diocese, and the provost of
St Andrews, Grenoble.

To all the Christian faithful. Indult granting indulgences to visitors
to Newbattle abbey, o.cist., and to those giving financial assistance
for the repair of the abbey and the church dedicated to the Blessed
Virgin Mary, recently burned and almost destroyed by enemies of
the kingdom of Scotland. Also a warning to anyone who might
attempt to appropriate the gifts to himself that no forgiveness
would be granted unless at the Holy See or on the point of death.

to preach a crusade against the Turks, at the request of Manuel,
emperor of Constantinople, which city is being besieged by the
infidels, and to grant indulgences to those providing aid to the said
crusade.
