To John de Culmaly, priest, Caithness diocese. Indult for John,
recently dispensed of a defect of birth as the son of a priest and an
unmarried woman, to be promoted to all holy orders and to hold
a benefice even if with cure, by virtue of which he had become a
priest and had obtained the parish church of Lotharwart, St Andrews
diocese, to hold two compatible benefices even if one is a canonry
and prebend, an office, or a dignity in a cathedral church, provided
it is not a major or principal dignity in a cathedral or collegiate
church, with powers of exchanging them and the parish church
for compatibles as often as he pleases, notwithstanding the decrees
of the countil of Poitou and his defect of birth.1

city of Arles. Mandate to hear and decide a suit which had arisen
between David, the abbot and the convent of Melrose, o.cist., and
Mathew, bishop of Glasgow, over the church or chapel of Mathlyn,
Glasgow diocese. David and the convent had claimed that their
monastery and certain places and pendicles of it had been granted
exemption by the pope from the episcopal right of visitation, which
