To the bishop of Brechin. Mandate to confirm John Simon, priest,
Aberdeen diocese, in possession of the parish church of Cadylston,
Aberdeen diocese, vacant by the death outside the curia of William
Fraser, late rector, or vacant in any other way, as John had doubted
whether the church was vacant by the death of the said William,
but was vacant for some other reason and, therefore, his provision
by Adam, late bishop of Aberdeen, to whom he had been presented
by Sir John de Swynton, true patron of the church, within the
lawful time, was invalid.

To the bishop of Aberdeen. Mandate to confirm John de Aber-
kerdore in possession of a canonry of Moray and the prebend of
St Giles. John holding a canonry, prebend and the chancellorship
of Caithness and two chaplaincies of Moray, and the late William
de Loneford holding a canonry of Moray and the said prebend of
St Giles wished to exchange their benefices and so John resigned
the canonry, prebend and chancellorship into the hands of Alex¬
ander, bishop of Moray, into whose hands also William resigned his
benefices. Then by ordinary authority Alexander, bishop of Caith¬
ness, provided William, who has been dead three years, to the
canonry, prebend and chancellorship of Caithness, and Alexander,
bishop of Moray, provided him to the two chaplaincies and the
said John to the canonry and the prebend of St Giles, but John
doubted the validity of this provision since it is claimed that William
