Elgin, 14th Nov., 1889 ; joined at Pluscarden, Elgin, April, 1908 ; served in France ; twice
disabled by severe accidents to legs in performance of duty, also contracted trench fever. Son
of Major A. Y. Cook and Helen Dunbar Cook, Abbeylands, Pluscarden. Occupation, farmer.
COOK, Robert Wilson. 2nd Lieut., Rhodesian Rifles ; born at Fochabers, March, 1884 ;
joined at Bulawayo.S.A., August, 1914 ; served in East Africa, Palestine, and Egypt ; awarded
Zulu Rebellion (Natal) Medal. Son of Captain George Cook (deceased) and Jane Wilson or
Cook. Occupation, big game hunter.
COOKES, Cyril Tom. Lieut., Royal Garrison Artillery ; born at Alves, Morayshire, Sept. 23rd,
1886 ; joined at Hong Kong, Feb., 1916 ; served in France ; slightly wounded in hip and
gassed. Son of William and Maggie Simpson Cookes, Brae Villa, Bishopmill, Elgin. Occu-
pation, in the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation.
COOKES, Horace Alastair. No. 420269, Lnce./Cpl., 43rd Battn. Cameron Highlanders ; born
at Elgin, Dec. 7th. 1892 ; joined at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Dec, 1914 ; served in
France ; four times slightly wounded, once by a bomb in Shorncliffe Camp ; killed by shell
near Vimy, nth April, 1918. Son of William and Maggie Simpson Cookes, Braevilla, Bishop-
mill, Elgin. Occupation, farming.
COONEY, John. No. 511, Sgt., 6th Seaforths ; born at 166, High Street, Elgin, 2nd June, 1891 ;
joined at Elgin, Feb., 1909 ; served in France ; killed in action at Beaumont Hamel, Nov.
13th, 1916. Son of William Cooney, 166, High Street, Elgin, and Georgina Hutcheon or
Cooney (both deceased). Occupation, shoemaker.
COONEY, Matthew. No. 5638, Sgt., 1st Cameronians Scottish Rifles ; born at 63, Regent Quay,
Aberdeen, nth May, 1877, employed in Elgin prior to enlistment ; joined at Aberdeen, 30th
Oct., 1896 ; served in India, Africa and France ; awarded 1914 Star. Son of William Cooney,
166, High Street, Elgin, and Georgina Hutcheon or Cooney (both deceased). Occupation,
soldier.

ander Cooper, Baronet, Hursley Park, Winchester, and M. E. Smith or Cooper. Occupation,
Lieut., Scots Greys.

Noyon, 24th March, 1918. Son of Sir George Alexander Cooper, Baronet, Hursley Park,
Winchester, and M. E. Smith or Cooper. Occupation, cadet at Sandhurst.
