BOWIE, John. No. 6984, Sgt., Seaforth Highlanders ; born at Pluscarden, 10th Feb., 1877 ;
joined at Fort George, 18th Jan., 1915 ; served in France and Belgium ; wounded in right
groin, buried alive and injured internally ; awarded 1915 Star. Son of James Bowie (deceased)
and Margaret McLeod or Bowie. Occupation, janitor.
BOWIE, Peter. No. 6458, Sgt., Seaforth Highlanders ; born at Forres, Jan. 1st, 1880 ; joined
at Elgin, Jan. 16th, 1899 ; served 12 years in Egypt and India, and 2 years and 7 months in
France ; invalided home in bad health, but still serving with 3rd Reserve Batt., Cromarty ;
awarded North West Frontier Indian Medal, 1908, 1914 Star, and Military Medal, and men-
tioned in despatches (Divisional Generals, 1915). Occupation, regular soldier.
BOWIE, Thomas Johnston. No. 16202, Sgt., Scottish Rifles ; born at Pluscarden, 13th Jan.,
1886 ; joined at Glasgow, June, 1915 ; served in Mesopotamia and India ; contracted Malarial
Fever. Son of James Bowie (deceased) and Margaret McLeod or Bowie. Occupation,
bookseller's traveller.
BOWIE, William McLean. No. 21128, Pte., 3rd Gordons, attached 2/i4th London Scottish ;
born at Stoneyford, Rafford, June 25th, 1899 ; joined at Edinkillie, March, 1918 ; served in
France. Son of John and Ann Bowie, Stoneyford, Rafford. Occupation, farm servant.
BOYD, Andrew. Capt., 6th Seaforth Highlanders ; born at Innerleithen, 8th Oct., 1887, em-
ployed at Newmill, Elgin ; joined at Elgin as Pte. in 6th Seaforths Highlanders, later com-
missioned in the same Battalion ; served in France and Belgium ; wounded 20th Sept., 1915,
31st July, 1917, and 4th June, 1918 ; awarded M.C. Son of Rev. Jas. Boyd and Henrietta
Roberts, or Boyd, The Manse, Innerleithen. Occupation, employed by Messrs. Jas. Johnston
and Co., Newmill, Elgin.
BOYD, Frederick James. No. 34200, Pte., 6th Gordon Highlanders ; born at Oxford, 4th
Jan., 1898, worked at Grantown-on-Spey for 6 years ; joined at Keith, 4th Jan., 1915 ; served
in France and Serbia ; contracted Malarial Fever. Son of Mrs. Boyd. Occupation, ploughman.
BOYD, George Francis Edward. Lieut., 2 /6th Seaforth Highlanders ; born at Innerleithen,
Peebles-shire, 13th Sept., 1897 ; joined at Elgin as Pte. in 2/6th Seaforth Highlanders, com-
missioned in the 10th Seaforth Highlanders, and went to France as a T.M.B. officer in the 25th
Div., afterwards transferred to the 153rd Brigade, 51st Div. ; served in France and Belgium ;
died of dysentry at Wimereux Hospital, near Boulogne, 19th Oct., 1916. Son of Rev. Jas.
Boyd, Tweed House, Melrose, and Henrietta Roberts, or Boyd. Occupation, apprentice to
tweed manufacturer.
BOYLE, Charles. No. 177439, Sgt., M.T., A.S.C. ; born at Carnoustie, March 28th, 1885, resided
for several years in Morayshire ; joined at Inverness, May, 1916 ; served in Salonica. Son of
Richard (deceased) and Jane Boyle, Carnoustie. Occupation, commercial traveller.
BOYNE, Alexander. No. 36716, Pte., 16th Sherwood Foresters and 10th K.S.L.I., and Spr. in
Royal Engineers ; born at 13, Mosset Terrace, Forres, 27th Feb., 1894 ; joined at Dundee,
15th Nov., 1915 ; served in France and Belgium. Son of William Boyne, 61, High Street,
Nairn, and Elizabeth McDonald, or Boyne. Occupation, plumber.
BOYNE, Charles Simpson. No. 7012, Gnr., 157th Bde., R.F.A. ; born at 43, North Road,
Forres, 16th March, 1896 ; joined at Aberdeen, 1st April, 1915 ; served in France and Belgium.
Son of William Boyne, 61, High Street, Nairn, and Elizabeth McDonald, or Boyne. Occupa-
tion, chemist.
BOYNE, John Hay. No. 016264, Pte., Army Ordnance Corps ; born at Waterscott, Urquhart,
Elgin, 23rd Dec, 1896 ; joined at Fort George, 30th March, 1916 ; served in Egypt and
Palestine. Son of John Boyne, Waterscott, Urquhart, Elgin, and Elizabeth Reid or Boj'ne.
Occupation, bank clerk.
