Speymouth, April 7th, 1898 ; joined at Forres, Oct., 1914 ; served in France and Belgium ;
killed at Vermelles, France, 13th June, 1916. Son of Francis and Jessie Balfour, North
Alves, Alves. Occupation, farm servant.
BANKS, John. No. 266266, Pte., i/6th Gordon Highlanders; born at 10, Marshall Street,
Edinburgh, 24th Oct., 1897, lived in Morayshire before joining up ; joined at Aberlour Head
Quarters, Keith, May, 1915 ; served in France ; killed at Arras, 9th April, 1917. Son of
John and Jessie Keith Banks (deceased). Occupation, farm servant.
BANKS, Peter Cameron. No. 1024, Pte., 2nd Seaforth Highlanders ; born at 25, Simon Square,
Edinburgh, 30th March, 1892, residing in Morayshire for 6 years ; joined at Fort George,
March, 1911 ; served in France ; wounded twice, once in left shoulder and then in left arm.
Son of John and Jessie Keith Banks (deceased). Occupation, regular soldier.
BANNERMAN, Alexander. No. 480, Pte., i/6th Seaforths and King's Royal Rifles ; born at
Burghead, July 17th, 1883 ; joined at Burghead, Jan. 22nd, 1909 ; served in France ; wounded
and shellshock. Son of Daniel Bannerman, Burghead, and Jane McGregor (both deceased).
Occupation, fireman.
BANNERMAN, George. No. 2075E.S., Engineman, H.M.S. " Belle o' Moray " ; born at Burg-
head, Morayshire, 1881 ; joined at Aberdeen, Jan. 20th, 1915 ; served in home waters mine-
sweeping. Son of Daniel and Jane McGregor Bannerman (both deceased), Burghead. Occu-
pation, engineman.
BANNERMAN, James. Capt., 2 /2nd (S.M.) Field Ambulance, 61st Division ; born at Elgin,
June 30th, 1890 ; joined at Epping, Essex, Sept. 9th, 1915 ; served in England, France, and
Scotland ; invalided home, July, 1917. Son of John and Margaret Bannerman, St. Mar-
garets, Elgin. Occupation, medical student.
BARBER, John. No. 141927, Spr., R.E. ; born at Shenval, Glenlivet, residing at Bishopmill
since seven years of age ; joined at Elgin, Nov., 1915 ; served in France ; wounded in right
arm 22nd Sept., 1917, and accidently wounded in face, Sept., 1918. Son of John and Annie
Barber, 25, North Street, Bishopmill. Occupation, gardener.
BARBOUR, Arthur. No. 21368, Pte., 2nd Seaforth Highlanders ; born in Morayshire, March
9th, 1880 ; joined at Cromarty, March, 1917 ; served in France ; died of wounds received in
action in France, 9th Nov., 1917. Son of James Barbour, Lossiemouth, and Isabella Edwards,
or Barbour. Occupation, postman.
BARBOUR, Edward. No. 622202, Pte., 44th Canadian Infantry ; born at 29, North Road,
Forres, Oct. 5th, 1881 ; joined at Winnipeg, Mass., Canada, July, 1915 ; served in France ;
received severe face wounds. Son of John and Jane A. Jamieson Barbour, 52a, North Road,
Forres. Occupation, plumber.
BARBOUR, James Gray. No. 300412, Pte., M.T., A.S.C. ; born at Lossiemouth, Dec. 26th,
1885 ; joined at Aberdeen, 1916 ; served in France ; gassed. Son of John and Jessie Barbour,
53, King Street, Lossiemouth. Occupation, shop manager.
BARBOUR, John. No. 9974, Pte., Gordon Highlanders ; born at Stotfield, Lossiemouth, 2nd
July, 1884 ; served in Belgium and France in the Battle and Retreat of Mons, taken prisoner
at Cambrai ; awarded the Mons Star. Son of John and Jessie Barbour, 53, King Street,

BARBOUR, Robert. No. 301080, Cpl., R.A.M.C. ; born at Lossiemouth, Jan. 1st, 1893 ; joined
at Aberdeen, August 4th, 1914 ; served in Gallipoli and France ; slightly wounded ; awarded

BARCLAY, Eric William Ensor. 2nd Lieut., M.T., A.S.C, and Seaforth Highlanders ; born
at Grantown-on-Spey, 26th Dec, 1895 ; joined in London, 13th March, 1915 ; served in
England and France. Son of William McKenzie Barclay, Grantown-on-Spey, and Winifred
Mount or Barclay. Occupation, medical student.
