with the name iof)£0 t( IgrfjtgiD. Such of the other compartments as
are filled represent monks in the attitude of prayer. Eobert
Wishard was Bishop of Glasgow; he died in 1316. From the
repetition of the name of Ahhot Lychtgiv, it is obvious that this
portion is supplied from a monument erected in commemoration of
that abbot. The statue of the female is supposed to refer to
Marjory Bruce.
Three children of Claud Hamilton, Lord Paisley, are on a tomb-
stone commemorated thus : —

Claud Hamilton was third son of James, second Earl of Arran,
and first Duke of Chatelherault. He was born in Blackness
Castle, in September, 1543. When he had attained the age of
fourteen, his illegitimate uncle. Abbot John Hamilton, conveyed
to him the temporalities of the abbey. After undergoing many
vicissitudes of fortune, he was by James VI. created Lord Paisley
in 1587. He married Margaret Seton, daughter of George, sixth

Henry and Alexander Hamilton, the beloved children of Claud Hamilton, Lord
Paisley, and Margaret Seton his wife. They died much lamented : Margaret, 23rd
December, 1577 ; aged 3 months and 22 days: Henry, loth March, 1585; aged 3
months and 2 days: Alexander, 11th December, 1587 ; aged 8 months and 3 days.
