Worthie8 King Arthour and Gawane,
And mony a9 bawld berne of Bartane,10
Ar deid and in the weiris ar9 slane, 95
Sen I cowld11 weild a speir.
Sophie and the Sowdoun12 strang,
With weiris that hes lestit lang,
Owt13 of thair boundis hes9 maid me gang,
And turne to Turky tyte. 100

Hes brocht in derth in Lumbardy,
That in the14 cuntre he and I
Can nocht dwell baith perfyte.
