Conferences were held at Kyoto (Japan), 1929; Shanghai (China), 1931; Banff
(Canada), 1933, Yosemite (California, United States of America), 1936.
Official Publications : A periodical entitled Pacific Affairs and a quarterly periodical
entitled I.P.R. Notes. The Pacific Council and the National Councils publish monographs
and books on the results of scientific studies made by the Institute. A description of these
works will be found in the Institute’s catalogue entitled Books on the Pacific.
Relations with other organisations : Observers from the League of Nations Secre¬
tariat, the International Labour Office and the International Institute of Intellectual
Co-operation attend the meetings of the Institute of Pacific Relations, held every two
or three years.

Object: To bring together, with a view to closer contact and concerted action, the
representatives of the negro race and its different groups in Asia, Europe and America.

Activities : Periodical meetings every two or three years.
Historical Facts : The first Pan-African Congress was held in Paris in February i9I9»
the second in London, Brussels and Paris in 1921, the third in London and Lisbon in 1923
and the fourth in New York in 1927- A Congress is proposed for 1938-
An “Encyclopaedia of the Negro ’’ is in course of preparation.

Object: Preparatory propaganda work for the foundation of the United States of
Europe. . .

dom, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, France, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Luxemburg, Nether¬
lands, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, United States of America, Yugoslavia.
Officers : President: R. N. de Coudenhove-Kalergi (Austria).
Finance : Subscriptions of members and donations.
Activities : Propaganda lectures, congresses, publications.
Historical Facts : The first Pan-European Congress took place in Vienna in October
1926. The second Congress was held in Berlin in May 1930, the third at Basle in October
1932 and the fourth in Vienna in May 1935- The following Pan-European Economic
Conferences have been held : December 1933 and May and November 1934, both in Vienna.
The first Pan-European Agricultural Congress : September 1936 in Vienna.
Official Publication : The periodical Paneurope which is issued in French and German
ten times a year.
