                              CHAPTER XI.

                         GENERAL REMARKS.

121. Elephant Khedda.—Though the Khedda in Angul was
abolished from 1st March 1931, seven elephants belonging to the
Khedda could not be disposed of until November last when the
animals were sold at the Sonepur fair.

By-laws.—The proposal for the introduction of compulsory
inoculation which the district board, Puri, had under considera-
tion was dropped as being impracticable.

Hackney carriage and ekka services.—These services in the
Patna City Municipality have appreciably improved due to the
appointment of the Cruelty Inspector, but their number is becom-
ing less on account of the introduction of motor vehicles in the
city.

Propaganda.—Though there is no special agency, propaganda
work was done as usual by the staff by distribution of pamphlets,
by exhibition of charts and models and by lectures with the aid
of magic lantern wherever possible. This work will be greatly
facilitated when the field veterinary dispensaries are fully
established and in full working order.
