9. Foot-and-Mouth Disease.—1,098 head of cattle were attacked
in 30 outbreaks and 60 died.
10. Other contagious diseases.—Piroplasmosis caused the death
of one animal, Contagious Pleuro-Pneumonia 30 deaths, Parasitic
Gastritis one death and Johne's Disease one death.
(iii) Contagious Disease among other animals.
Rinderpest.—In 9 outbreaks, 352 sheep, goats and camels
were attacked and 143 died in the Karachi, Hyderabad and Nawab-
shah Districts.
12. Foot-and-Mouth Disease.—The disease was reported from
Karachi, Hyderabad, Upper Sind Frontier and Dadu Districts. 107
sheep and goats died out of 850 attacked.
13. Surra.—Only one camel was attacked and treated success-
fully with Naganol.
14. Contagious Pleuro-Pneumonia.—1,727 sheep, goats and
camels were attacked and 1,429 died.
15. Rabies.—Seventy-two dogs were attacked and all died or
were destroyed.

(iv) Preventive Inoculation.
17. Table II.—In 133 outbreaks of Rinderpest 11,339 animals
were inoculated with Anti-Rinderpest serum as compared with
.14,737 inoculations performed in the previous year. In the course
of these outbreaks, 2,209 uninoculated and 83 inoculated animals
died. In addition to the above inoculations, 703 head of cattle were
protected with Goat Virus of which 32 died.
18. Hæmorrhagic Septicæmia inoculations were undertaken in
five outbreaks and 436 animals were inoculated. Of these one died
while 26 uninoculated animals died during the course of these
outbreaks.
(v) Other Diseases.
19. Table III.—The number of villages visited by Veterinary
Assistant Surgeons was 1,036 as against 2,291 in the previous year.
During their tours they treated 3,407 cases for contagious disease,
556 cases for non-contagious disease and performed 474 castrations
as compared with 6,070 cases treated for contagious disease,
504 cases for non-contagious disease and 388 castrations performed
in the previous year. Most of the castrations were performed with
Burdizzo Castrator.
