(iii) CONTAGIOUS DISEASES MONG OTHER ANIMALS.

9. Distemper.—Only one dog died of distemper in the Ajmer
District.

10. Rabies.—Two dogs are reported to have been attacked and
died in the Ajmer District.

11. Tick fever.—One dog died of this disease in the Ajmer District.

                (iv) PREVENTIVE INOCULATION.

12. Table III —Seven hundred and forty-one head of cattle were
inoculated with anti-rinderpest serum in 9 outbreaks in the Ajmer
District. Only one inoculated animal died of the disease.

                        (v) OTHER DISEASES.

13. Table IV.—The number of villages visited by the Veterinary
Assistant Surgeons. Ajmer and Beawar, was 137 against 118 in the
previous year. They treated 64 animals for contagious and 19 for non-
contagious diseases, as against 207 animals for contagious and 59 for
non-contagious diseases and 7 castrations performed in the previous
year.

            (vi) HOSPITALS AND DISPENSARIES.

14. Table V.—As in the previous year, there were two Veterinary
Dispensaries in the province during the year under report. The number
of cases treated was 3,019 as against 3,243 in the previous year. Medi-
cines and advice were given to the owners of 513 animals not brought
to the dispensaries, as against 511 in the previous year. Five equines
and 8 other animals were castrated as against three equines and four
other animals in the previous year.

15. Ajmer Veterinary Hospital.—Khan Sahib Abdul Haq held charge
throughout the year. The number of animals treated at this hospital
was 2,040 (775 in-patients and 1,265 out-patients) as against 2,372 (822
in-patients and 1,550 out-patients) treated in the previous year. Medi-
cines and advice were given to the owners of 228 animals not brought
to the dispensary as against 384 in the previous year. Five equines
and eight other animals were castrated as against 3 equines and 4 other
animals in the previous year.

16.  Beawar Veterinary Hospital.—Mr. Kabul Singh held charge
throughout the year. The number of animals treated at the hospital
was 979 (78 in-patients and 901 out-patients) as against 871
(68 in-patients and 803 out-patients) treated in the previous year. No.
castrations were performed during the year.

                            III.—Breeding Operations.

17. No breeding operations are carried on in the province by the
Civil Veterinary Department.
