being clone, yow must mak a computation how many years rent of that land
can give yow satisfaction ; dureing which tyme I shal be most willing yow
intromett with the rentis of these lands (the towne of Edinburgh's annuels
being tearmely payed, as yow know we concludit), vntill yow be compleatly
payed. I have likewise given order that yow may haue the present vse of my
housse of the Mearns, with the Litle Maynes, medowis, and housses belonging
thereto. And by reason the obbgations of bloode and love betuixt ws is greatter
then should admitt any penalties or sowmes of money for redelyvering of the
said housse, maynes, etc., at what time I shall vse of itt or call for itt, I haue
only sent a note to yow heirwithall, which yow will be pleased to sett your
hand vnto. Wisheing nothing more then I may haue the occasion to lett yow
see how sensible I am of your former kindnesse, which shall still be acquited
with the best affection of,

269. Louing Cusin, I haue sent my brother and Conhaith so sone as I gatt aduer-
tisment from Edinborghe. I haue apoynted they settle all matters before
thaye cum aueye. As I said in my former letter, draw up the iust accompt
uhat I am adebted to yow. Yow sail haue the rentis of that land of Mernis
til yow be fullie satisfied, the annual of the toun of Edinborghe beeing first
peyed, uhich a priuat note under your hand sal seme to mee. I know yow
uish the standing of my house, and hops I will fynd such fauore as my respec-
tis to yow sail deserue. So I rest,
