10th November 1638.
264. Eight assured frend, the General! Assernblie now approaching, requyrethe
my beeing in Glasgow on Setterdaye the 1 7th of this instant ; wharefore I
shall desyre your companie hither, and that yee will meette me the said daye
at the Towcorse burne about one in the afternoone, as I shall be willing at all
your good occasions to showe myselhTe,
Your louing and assured frend,
Holyroodhous, 10 Nouember 1638.
For my assured good frend, the Laird of Poke Maxwell
Eoeert first Earl of Nithisdaill to Sir Johne Maxwell of Pollok,
29th November 1638.
Louing cusin, I am cum home, and if the asemble war nocht at Glasgow, I did
intend to haue beene with yow shortle, but now till it disolue I haue na mynd
to sie yow. I am very glad* yow haue caried busnes conserning the couenant,
as I beer yow haue done. I besich yow maik offer of your seruice, or any
conserns me, to my Lord Maxquese, and if yow can bee stedable in any thing,
be redde to it. In what conserns mee in these partis, yow will tak such cours
as yow think good, till I sie yow. So I hartale rest,
