wryting, bot treulie seldome my effaires can permitt the embracement of every
occasioun. Alwayes what I wryt shall not be lyke Johne Nicollis newes, or

to Sie John Maxwell of Pollok, 18th July 1633.
242. Noble sir, since at all occasions I haue funde your worship's trew loue and
respect to exside my deserte, and being one in whose frindshipe I haue gratest
confidence ; it hes moued me to send your worship thir wryts, chartur, seising,
and contrake, with a full pouer to doe in that particular as zee shall think
fitting. I haue enformed my selfe the best I can of the surtie, and I find it
the fitest cours to wrdge payment of the monyes. I haue spokne with Sir
Thomas, in a faire way, that hee wakl aduance me swm monyes at the present ;
bot my Lord Straban can enforme your Avorship of his ansuer. Aluayes I pur-
pose to let Sir Thomas know of the pouer I haue giuin your worship, and that
my oune desir is to haue my monyes. All expensis that is to be disbursid in
that particular, my Lord Straband will fwrnisht ; and your worship being cair-
fwll in this sail obhdge me to remain,
Your worship's most faithfwll freind and seruitor till death,

I haue acquentid my Lord Straban and Caprintowne fwlly with the bosines,
and whan zee think fitting zee may haue ther aduyce.
