160 FAMILY AND DOMESTIC LETTERS. [1586-87.
John Earl of Mortoune, Lord Maxwell, to Sir John Maxwell
of Pollok, 25th September 1586.
160. Rycht traist cousing, efter hertlie commendationis. I thoucht to have directit
this beirrer or now to zow, bot I was swa inipeyschit in vther effairis, that I
culd nocht have the oportunittie to writt to zow soner. I think ze ar now
advysit in that thing I was speikand to zow ; and for zour better informatioun,
I have sent this vther letter to zow. And if ze think glide to do as we war
speikand, quhilk I wald hertlie crave, I wald wis zow to be heir the secund of
October nixt, becaus the justice court sittis downe the ferd of the same, how-
beit ze sidd gang bak agane efter the rysing of the court, to perfyte the rest of
zour turnis and mak zow redy. Swa assuritlie hiking for zour cuming the said
daye, I commit zow to God. Off Drumfres, the xxvj day of September 1586.
