Part hi. I add in this appendix two family registers which have been omitted from volume ii.
a pp- as not belonging to any of the collections dealt with there, some inscriptions at Auchter-
house, and also some notes on the Melvill, Dunbar, Brodie, and some other allied families
from materials in my possession.
NOTE I.
Family Registers.
(a) Thomas Wedderburn' s Bible.
This is an old 1599 Bible, which was formerly in the possession of J. K. Wedderburn, to whom it had
descended. It contains various records, as follows : —

Katharine, born Munday the 1 st of October 1744 at Fortrose, pa: of Rosemarkie.

Below this is written in Mary Wisdom Wedderburn 's hand, " the above was written in Thomas
Wedderburn's own hand. M.W.W."
Then follow seven lines, of which the last four are clearly in the hand of Katharine Dunbar : as are
the first two words (apparently written over others) in the third line. The first two lines and the rest of
the third seem to be in Thomas Wedderburn's hand.
Alexander, went to Jamaica in Spring 1760.
John went to Jamaica in spring 1762.
James went to Jamaica 1769 or about the close of 1768.
My Dear Husband Died 1771.
My Dear Son Alexander Died Feb. the 10 day 1770.
My Dear Daughter Robina Died Dec. the 16 day 1796.
My Dear Daughter Thomasina Died May the 19 day 1797.
Register in the hand of John Wedderburn of Spring Garden.
This is a further register in the book in the hand of Thomas Wedderburn's son, John, as follows : —
" This Holy Bible was sent to Clapham by my mother, Katharine Wedderburn, in Sept. 1797 to her
son John, being much valued, for the length of time it has been in the Family : it was a gift from my
Father's Mother to her Son Thomas.
The above memorandum made this 6 Oct 1 ' 1797 by John Wedderburn.
Thomas Wedderburn died in the month of Jan. 1771.
Mary Wedderburn died some time in 1772.
Robina died 16 Dec. 1796.
Thomasina died 19 th May 1797.
James died 17 th of July 1797.
(On the next page John Wedderburn begins afresh),
Thomas Wedderburn born Aprile the 2 nd 1710.
Katharine Dunbar born July the 22 d 1722.
Married Sept r the 20 th 1740 and had these children.
(He then copies his father's register, already given above, and proceeds) : —
Alexander went to Jamaica in spring 1760 and died there on Blue Castle estate parish of Weet d 10 Feb r y
1770.
James went to Jamaica in 1769 or about the close of 1768. Died on Paradise in the Parish of Westmore-
land the 17 th July 1797 at 9 oclock at night.
John went to Jamaica in spring 1762 and returned to England in July 1789 — (and having arrived at the
Vale of years, Beloved by all his Family and most deservedly esteemed by a large circle of acquaint-
ance, departed in the hope to rank, among the Spirits .of the Just made Perfect on Friday the
29 th Dec 1 ' 1820— James Wedderburn.) 1
