He married, second, Agnes, daughter of Sir James Spens of Wor-
miston, and had : —
(c) Alexander (No. 398).
(d) James Hamilton.
(396) ROBERT HAMILTON OF Kinkell. Was served heir to his father 12th June
1640. He married Elizabeth Auchmoutie, whose Will was recorded nth
August 1652 (Dunblane). He had a son : —
(a) James Hamilton, apprenticed in Edinburgh nth August
1652, but who apparently died young.
Robert Hamilton was succeeded by his brother : —
(397) John Hamilton of Kinkell, who was served heir to his father 29th July
1643, and to his brother, Robert, 2nd August 1643. He died unmarried,
and was succeeded by his half-brother :—
(398) Alexander Hamilton of Kinkell. Served heir to his half-brother, John,
26th December 1695. His Will recorded 8th July 1702 (St. Andrews).
He married Margaret, daughter of Henry Pitcairn of Pitlour, and had
issue : —
(a) Henry (No. 399).
(b) Alexander Hamilton. Married Jean, daughter of David
Valentine of Wester Pitgarvie.
(c) Rev. Andrew Hamilton, appointed to Navar 17 13 ; died 24th
February 1714 (Scott's Fasti).
(399) Rev. Henry Hamilton, appointed to Navar 1708, and to Glenbervie 1712;
died 20th May 1754. Married, 28th October 1726, Grizel, daughter of
John Haldane of Myrtoun. She died 30th August 1772 (Scott's Fasti).
HUtllS recorded in Lyon Office, 1785, to Professor Alexander Hamilton,
grandson of Alexander Hamilton of Kinkell. — Gules, a mullet or between
three cinquefoils argent, within a bordure engrailed of the last, charged with
four fleurs-de-lis vert alternately with as many crescents azure. [Plate V.,
fig. 10.] CREST : A fir tree traversed by a frame saw proper. MOTTO :
" Through."

(400) Allan Hamilton of Bogtoun, fifth son of James Hamilton (No. 360).
His Will recorded 30th May 1564 (Hamilton and Campsie). He married
Margaret Torrance, and had : —
(401) David Hamilton OF Bogtoun, whose Will was recorded 6th February 1604
(Edinburgh). He married Catherine Crawford, and had : —
(402) Robert Hamilton of Bogtoun, who was served heir to his mother 19th
January 1605.
