THE HAMILTONS OF RAPLOCH 65
24th February 1842, Catherine, daughter of Rev. George Caldwell, and
had:—
(a) Gawin (No. 265).
(b) George Rowan Hamilton of Wilford, Bray, Co. Wicklow,
born 10th April 1845. Married, 23rd January 1873,
Helen, daughter of J. Maudesley, and has: —
(1) Sydney Orme Hamilton, born 10th November
1877. Married, 10th August 1901, Vera,
daughter of Major J. Barnett Barker.
(c) Sidney Augustus Rowan Hamilton, born 1st July 1846.
Died unmarried 19th April 1868.
(d) Frederick Temple Rowan Hamilton, born 17th July 1850.
Married, 26th April 1883, Blanche, daughter of Admiral
Fellowes Gordon of Knockspock, Aberdeenshire, and
has : —
(1) Guy Hamilton.
(265) Gawin William Rowan Hamilton of Killyleigh Castle, born 7th
March 1844. Married, 19th October 1876, Lina, only daughter of Sir
George Howland Beaumont, Bt., and has : —
(a) Archibald James Hamilton, born 30th September 1877.
HmiS. — Gules, three cinquef oils pierced ermine, on a chief or a human heart of
the field. [Plate IV., fig. 3.] Crest : A demi antelope affronte" argent,
armed and ungided or, holding between the hoofs a human heart gules.
MOTTO : " Qualis ab incepto " (Burke's Armory).
(266) Gawen Hamilton of Ballygally, third son of Hans Hamilton (No. 252).
Married Helen Dunlop, and had : —
(267) James Hamilton of Ballygally, who married Miss Watson, and had : —
(268) Rev. Archibald Hamilton of Armagh and Ballough, living 1693.
He married Mary, sister of David Kennedy of Ballycultra, and had : —
(269) James Hamilton of Derryboy, who died before February 1719. He
married Mary, daughter of Robert Hamilton of Killyleigh, and had
issue : —
(270) Archibald Hamilton of Ballynochan, died 1741. He married Alice,
daughter of Robert Lambert of Dumlady, and had : —
(271) Robert Hamilton of Hill of Hills, Kildare, born 1737; died 1814.
He married Mary Harrison, of Liverpool, and had : —
(272) Rev. Archibald Robert Hamilton, born nth March 1778; died 1857.
He married, 18 15, Jane, daughter of Robert Cotter, and had issue : —
(a) Robert Hamilton, M.D., born nth November 1820. Married,
first, Eleanor, daughter of Robert Walkington, who died
6th July 1871. He married, second, 4th December 1872,
Katherine, daughter of Thomas Land, of Jamaica.
HmtS« — Gules, a crescent argent between three cinquefoils
pierced ermine, on a chief or a heart of the first. [Plate IV.,
fig. 4] Crest : A demi antelope affronte argent, armed
and unguled or, charged with a crescent gules, holding
between the forelegs a heart gules. MOTTO : " Qualis ab
incepto" (Burke's Armory).
