(179) John Hamilton of Orbiston, killed at battle of Langside, 13th May 1568.
He married Janet Hamilton of Haggs. Her Will recorded 22nd July
1596 (Edinburgh). He had : —

(b) Gavin Hamilton, Bishop of Galloway. His Will recorded
16th June 1612 (Hamilton and Campsie). He married
Alison, daughter of James Hamilton of Bothwellhaugh,
and had : —
(1) John Hamilton of Inchgottrick.
HtHtS on Seal, 1608. — Three cinquefoils (Macdonald).
(180) John Hamilton of Orbiston, died 1621. He was served heir to his father
8th October 1608. He married Christian, daughter of Robert Dalzell
of that Ilk, and had : —
(a) Sir John (No. 181).

(181) Sir John Hamilton of Orbiston, Lord Justice-Clerk. He married,
first, Miss Bonar of Rossie, Fife, and had two daughters. He married,
second, Margaret, daughter of Sir John Henderson of Fordel, and had
a son : —
(182) Sir James Hamilton of Orbiston, died May 1664. Will recorded 19th
June and 8th August 1665 (Glasgow). He married Jean Houston, and
had:—
(a) William (No. 183).
(b) James Hamilton, W.S.
(183) William Hamilton of Orbiston. Married Elizabeth Cunningham,
daughter of William, eighth Earl of Glencairn, and had : —
(a) James Hamilton. Married Henrietta Macgill, daughter of
Robert, second Viscount Oxfurd or Oxenford. He was
served heir to his father, 29th January 17 13, and died s.p.
HnilS recorded in Lyon Office, 1680-S7. — Gules, an annulet or between tliree
cinquefoils ermine. [Plate III., fig. 11.] Crest : An antelope's head
proper, armed and unguled or. MOTTO : " Quis accusabit."
(184) James Hamilton of Dalzell, second son of John Hamilton (No. 180), died
1668. His Will recorded nth December 1669 and 23rd January 1673
(Hamilton and Campsie). He acquired Dalzell from his mother's family.
He married Jean, daughter of Sir John Henderson of Fordel. Her Will
recorded 27th October 1666 (Hamilton and Campsie). He had at least
ten sons, of whom : —
(a) Alexander (No. 185).
(b) Robert, retoured to his father 26th March 1668 (No. 193).
(c) John (No. 198).
(d) Sir James Hamilton, Physician to Queen Anne. Appren-
ticed in Edinburgh 22nd September 1652.
(e) Francis Hamilton. Will recorded 9th December 1675
(Edinburgh).
(185) Alexander Hamilton of Dalzell, served heir to his father 26th March
1668. Married Bertha, daughter of Sir William Henderson of Fordel,
and had : —
(a) James (No. 186).
(b) William Hamilton of Greenhead. Left daughters, one of
whom was served heir to the other 29th May 1761.
