NoTE.—The 880 yards Free Style is held on the 1st day, points
included in swimming championships (see para. 8). Two representa-
tives from each Service.
Events 2, 5, 8, 10 and 12 count only towards the Women's Cham-
pionships.
6. No individual may take part in more than two individual
events and one team event.
7. For events 10, 11 and 12—relay races—the winning team to
receive 8 points, the second 6 points and the third 4 points.
For all other events, the winner will score 6 points, the second
5 points, the third 4 points, the fourth 3 points, the fifth 2 points
and the sixth 1 point.
In the event of ties for any place, the point for each place will
be added together and divided by the number of competitors or
teams trying. The total points scored by each Service will decide
the final placing of the Services.
8. The Service scoring the highest number of points to hold
for one year the trophy presented by the Amateur Swimming Associa-
tion through the kindness of the late Mr. W. A. G. Buller, President,
A.S.A., 1928. In the event of a tie, the trophy to be held for an equal
period by the Services tying. The Senior Service to hold it for the
first period.
The Service holding the trophy will be responsible for safe custody
and for engraving.
9. The selected bath must be of such a width as that recommended
by the A.S.A. for six competitors to swim in all events, and should
not be less than ninety feet in length.
10. The starting stations for all events shall be determined by
one draw made by the championships sub-committee. When more
than three lanes are used the positions will be repeated, e.g. R.N.
lanes 1 and 4, R.A.F. lanes 2 and 5, Army lanes 3 and 6. The same
starting stations will be used throughout the championships.
11. Only records made at these championships will be recognised
as Inter-Services Swimming Records.
The Championships committee will ensure that the conditions
given in A.S.A. law 84 are complied with to ensure that any English
amateur record set up during the championships is legitimate.
12. Inter-Services Swimming medals will be awarded for the
first, second and third places in individual events. In the event of a
tie, teams or individuals will receive similar awards.
13. The referee will be appointed by the organising service for
the year, the chief judge by the organising service for the following
year, and the chief time-keeper by the organising service for the pre-
ceding year. Each service will appoint two judges and two time-
keepers.
