(d) It may happen that special competitions for men in the Ser-
vices will be included in the programmes of boxing tournaments
organised by civilians. It should be clearly understood that a Ser-
vice boxer who takes part in any competition will automatically
lose his amateur status unless the tournament has been authorised
by either the R.N. Boxing Association, Army Boxing Association,
R.A.F. Boxing Association, or by the Amateur Boxing Association.
Command Boxing Associations or Committees overseas of all three
Services are empowered to give this authority. Special care should
therefore be taken to warn intending competitors of their position
should they take part. This rule applies to all civilian tournaments,
including those organised for charitable purposes.
13 Service Boys
Competitions, contests and exhibition boxing for juniors shall
be restricted to boxers who are between the ages of
15
and
1'7
years.
(Note : For the I.S.B.A. Boys Championships, competitors must
be boys who have not attained the age of
1'7
on the 12th January
of the current season —see I.S.B.A. Rule 07(c)).
14. Exhibition Boxing
Exhibition bouts should only be arranged between boxers of note
who have a good style. They should always be of a serious nature.
A Referee must not hesitate to order boxers out of the ring who,
when giving an exhibition, box in a bad style or turn the bout into
a burlesque.
15. Appointment of Referees and Judges
Each Service is responsible for selecting and qualifying its own
referees and judges.
Officials for Tournaments Conducted by the Imperial
Services Boxing Association
For tournaments conducted by the I.S.B.A., Referees and Judges
will be selected from the following :
(a) Commissioned or retired Officers of the Imperial Services.
(b) R.N. — C.P.O. and above.
Army —Warrant Officer Class II and above.
R.A.F. — Flight Sergeant and above.
Amateur Boxing Association Officials
In team matches between Service teams and civilian teams quali-
fied Amateur B.A., officials may be invited to officiate.
16. Imperial Services Boxing Championships
(a)
I.S.B.A. Amateur Championships —Team and Individual.
The three Regular Services hold an annual Imperial Services Team
and Individual Championships. The Team composition is ten
serving boxers, one at each weight, Fly to Heavy, inclusive
The Individual winners of these Championships automatically
enter the Semi-final stage of the A.B.A. Championships.
