12. Service Professional Boxers
To prevent misunderstanding and to regularise the position of
professional boxers who join the Services, the Committee of the
I.S.B.A., have formulated the following special rules :
(a) A professional boxer who joins the Service may take part
in contests or competitions with other Service professional boxers,
provided that such contests are limited. to six rounds. No money
prizes may be given. Such professionals may not take part in com-
petitions or contests confined to amateurs.
(b) No civilian professional boxer may box a contest in a Service
ring. Therefore, no Civilian promotor can be permitted to organise
professional contests to take place in a, Service establishment.
(c) There is no objection to a Service professional continuing
his boxing career outside the Service. All he requires is " leave of
absence." The fact that he requires the leave to take part in a pro-
fessional boxing contest is his own affair, and no special permission
to box is necessary.
