(approx.

(e) During the
15
minutes the competitor may try his horse in
the practice ring, the number of practice jumps to be decided
by the Organising Committee subject to, number of horses avail-
able. .
19.
Conduct
of the Test.
(a) The test will be held over a
marked course as agreed to by the Organising Committee.
(b)
The course will be approximately
2,500
metres. The
number of fences and types of obstacles will be decided by the
Organising Committee. Normally they will not exceed 16 in
number and will not exceed aft. 6in. in height.
(c) Riders set off from a standing start.
2o.
The riders will ride the course individually at an interval
to be decided by the Committee.
21.
Disqualification. (a) Should the rider not take the
obstacles in the prescribed order, or between the flags he must
return to the place where he .lost his course and there resume his
ride. Non-fulfilment of this rule involves disqualification for
taking the wrong course. Should a rider lose his horse and be
unable to continue his ride he will suffer the same penalty.
(b)
A rider when in the saddle must accept no help during his
ride. Acceptance of help renders the rider liable to disqualifica-
tion.
(c) Friendly assistance : During the course of the trial the
rider must not ask for any assistance from a third party. If he
runs into difficulties in front of an obstacle he must not wait for
another horseman to jump with him.
After a fall, any re-capture and return of loose horse, any assistance
to a rider in getting back to the saddle and in re-adjusting his
harness are items of friendly help which are perfectly legal and
authorised.
The rider whose horse refuses at an obstacle or for any reason
whatsoever obstructs it must allow the negotiation of it to be
free when the next competitor appears on the scene. If for some
technical reason it is impossible to give this freedom the judge
at the obstacle must allow the following rider to pass and to record
that the latter has done so without committing a fault.
22.
Scoring.
The calculation of points will be as follows
4 minutes 30 seconds = 1,000 points. Each second less or more
than 4 minutes 30 seconds gives an increase or decrease of
2
points.
