(c)
Competitors.
Personnel serving on National Service or Regular
engagement with any of the three services are eligible.
(d) Reservists are not eligible.
(e)
Personnel seconded to another service may compete only for
their parent service.
(f) Team_ Manager.
Each service shall appoint a team manager,
whose responsibility shall be to ensure that each of his riders is fully
acquainted with these rules and that his riders are on their marks at
the proper time for their event. The team managers shall make the
draw for positions in the pursuit events.
(g)
Disqualification.
If any rider is disqualified in any individual
event his service shall not receive any points in that event ; similarly
no points shall be awarded to any service if their team is disqualified
in a team event.

4. Events.
(a) I,000 Metres Sprint.
The Sprint championship shall consist
of three two-up I,000 metres sprint races. One rider from each
service is to meet the other two services' riders consecutively.
(i) Three points shall be awarded to the. winner ; two points
shall be awarded to the loser of each race provided that he
completes the distance.
(ii) In the event of a dead heat the sprint is- to be re-run with
the riders changing their starting positions.
(iii) If a puncture or mechanical defect is sustained by either
rider a re-run is to take place, provided that
(a) He clearly signals by raising his hand, unless the defect
is such that he cannot control his machine_ with one hand
when this clause shall not apply.
(b) The machine is taken directly to the judges for examina-
tion. Should the judges decide that there was no
justifiable cause for stopping the race then the rider
shall be disqualified.
(iv) If both riders crash the race is to be re-run unless, in the
opinion of the judges, one rider caused the crash by doubt-
ful tactics in which case he shall be disqualified.
(v) If one rider crashes due to a puncture or mechanical defect
sub-para

(a)(iii)
shall apply.
(vi) If after a crash a rider is unable to resume, the other rider
shall ride over and shall be awarded three points. No
points shall be awarded to the absent rider.
(b)
4,000
Metres Individual Pursuit.
The Individual pursuit
championship shall consist of one race over
4,000
metres. One
rider from each service shall compete. The riders shall start at
equal distances apart.
(i) Six points shall be awarded to the winner, four points to
the rider placed second and two points to the rider placed
third.
(ii) If a puncture or mechanical defect is sustained by
a
rider
before the start of the last lap the rules contained in para
14
(a)(iii)
shall apply.
