SWIMMING
(b) Report any competitor for using objectionable language.
(c) Before accepting the office, they must be fully aware that
they are entirely responsible for the behaviour in the
dressing-room, must on no account leave their post, and
their names must be published on the programmes.
Heats and Stations
53. Heats and Stations in Scratch Races shall be drawn for,
Stations to count from the right, facing the course.
(a) In Open Handicaps all Stations shall count according to
the order in which the names appear on the programme,
from the limit competitor on the right.
(b)
The station of the fastest loser in a final heat shall be in
accordance with his number on the programme.
Turning
55• A competitor, in turning, must touch the end of the bath or
course with one or both hands.
Standing
56. Competitors do not disqualify themselves during the progress
of a race by standing upon the bottom of the bath or course for
the .purpose of resting.
Swimming Over
57. A competitor " swimming over " must complete the entire
J:stance to qualify as the winner.
Dead Heats and
Fastest Losers
58. If a dead heat ensue, the competitors may, with the consent
of the judges, divide the prizes, or shall again contest, at such time
and place as the Judges may direct. -
(a) In all contests, qualifying dead-heaters in preliminary
heats shall be entitled to swim in the next round (or final),
and shall be eligible to take any prize to which their
posi-
tions in the final may entitle them.
(b)
In level contests, at least the winner of each heat, and the
two fastest losers, shall qualify to compete in the next round
or final.
(c) The fastest loser in a handicap race is the unplaced com-
petitor doing the fastest gross time in the Handicap.
Fouling
59. Fouling, jostling or swimming across and obstructing another
competitor, so as to impede his progress, shall disqualify the
offender.
(a) In open water races the foul must be considered wilful.
(b) The Judges of the competition shall decide whether the
foul has been accidental or wilful.
(c) If in the opinion of the judges or Referee a swimmer has
been fouled to a degree that endangered his chance of
