| Description | Canadian troops being inspected. Each man has his pack of emergency rations laid out on the ground in front of him. The emergency rations included hard biscuits and a tin of corned beef. These were intended to keep troops going when they were in combat. The Canadian Corps supplied over 600,000 men to the Allied side; 56,500 of these men were killed and many other injured. [Original reads: 'The Inspection of a Canadian Battalion.
