| Description | Pontoon bridge over the Marne, France. This photograph shows a line of soldiers leading horses and a few mules across a pontoon bridge over the Marne. Apart from the officers, the soldiers are turbaned and wearing cavalry breeches, so it is possible that they belong to the Indian Army cavalry. Two Indian Army cavalry divisions fought on the Western Front from 1914 until March 1918, when they were transferred to Palestine.
