| Description | A man jumping off a makeshift diving board into a river. This diving event is part of a larger swimming competition, organised by the Cavalry. On the opposite river bank there are a number of spectators, both soldiers and civilians, and there appears to be a man conducting a band. Soldiers at the Front were not on constant duty. There were periods allowed for recreation and relaxation. Scenes such as this were commonly used as propaganda, intended to boost morale amongst the troops and provide reassurance to those at home.
